I'll have to remember this for next year.

amazing! i didn't know that Coke is non-kosher. thanks to your post! BTW, i like what u have there "none of us get out of it alive"!

Coca-Cola has ALWAYS been my favorite brand. This is good to know. I knew it went Kosher but I didn't know what was changed. Using sugar is better...it's more natural, than high-frutose syrup. Thank you for sharing this information with everyone, Karl.

I loove sugar sodas instead of HFCS. Kosher stuff always interests me, too. Thanks for the info! :D
[ciò è buono]

We for the most part stopped drinking Coke products when they switched over to HFCS. We discovered in Canada as well as any other country outside the United States you can indeed get Coke made with real sugar which is 500000% better.

So when Passover rolls around we stock up on what we call "liquid gold" (Coke made with sugar).

Do you know if there is any word about Coca Cola or even Pepsi Co going back to the original formulas? We just don't eat any HFCS period and we aren't Jewish. We just know it's really bad for you.

So good to know! :)

I thought Jones was the only soda company left sweetening their drinks with sugar....

Thanks...

oh what thats pretty dope.
I keep hearing about this an must try to get a batch. I hear in NY it sells out pretty quickly.
There are others like Hansen's and Whole Foods Brand 365 I believe. You can find Hansen's at stores like Fairway, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Also, I heard that sodas from other countries also use pure cane sugar but you have to check the label.

Gotta love Whole Foods! :) Thanks for the tip....

Jones soda? Oh, they're great! I think you can still pick one up at any Starbucks for a couple of bucks. So many flavors.....when you find one, don't pass up the opportunity

C:

yeah at thanksgiving jones has turkey and accompanying flavors. i'm just not that brave! BBB sells them in the cafe too.
That's kinda cool!
I want old fashion sugar coke too!
[never tasted it, I think...]

Yeah, I remember that one! I think it was called "Turkey and stuffing"' imagine that?! I think there was another one called "Sweet Potatoes" or something like that; yeah, I don't think even I'm THAT brave! haha

Peace,

[isto é bom]
@connie: Yeah, they came in a four pack with different flavors...turkey, stuffing, cranberry, etc. Ugh! LOL!!!

C: lol Ditto!

My roommate and I stock up every year. It's the bomb. And being in NYC, easy to find.
The ingredients in Coke are kosher, but whether it has a hechsher or not depends on the bottler. In Atlanta, our local bottler is known to be kosher, so it's one of the few that nobody looks for a hechsher on.

If you don't care about finding a hechshered drink, and you want plain old ordinary soda instead of the fruity Jones flavors, then Red Rock is good, and also made with real cane sugar. They're a bit expensive, and the soda comes in the old glass bottles, but it's totally worth it. They also make the good ginger ale with the real ginger.

you can also buy coke without high fructose corn syrup at other times of the year... if you are lucky and can find it. sometimes in the "hispanic" section of the grocery store, they sell coke in glass bottles which is made from cane sugar.

spread the anti-HFCS word!

Has sudden urge to go buy kosher Coke!

Neat.

And I can tell -- it's amazing how much of a difference corn syrup and sugar make. This is the first year we couldn't find Kosher for Passover Coca-Cola along with a ton of other products. But that's OK, it tastes flat even when you just open it.

I'm one of those who always picks Coca-Cola in the challenge. :)

It's a good thing they are doing this during the Passover as a way of respecting Jewish beliefs. Going to try a kosher coke one of these days.
i think you can get this all year round at costco. it's the mexican coca cola, also made with can sugar. you can in california, maybe all over.
Yes, I just got some cane sugar Coke at Costco (I'm in SoCal). It's in glass bottles, hecho en mexico.

As for taste...maybe I'm just not a big Coke person (I really got it for someone else in my household), but it's not that great. I will say that it's less sweet than regular Coke, which I like. So I guess I like it after all...
Thanks - yea isn' t it so true!
I think some people are finding it year 'round in some places.
You bet, I need to get some, NOW!
I need to find some like now!
That is so cool!
Really? I never can tell....
really bad for you is right...
